Publication Ethics

Desultanah: Journal of Education and Social Sciences is committed to upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in all aspects of the publication process. This statement is based on the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors and reflects internationally recognized standards of publication ethics for authors, reviewers, editors, and publishers.

1. Duties of Editors

The editorial team of Desultanah is responsible for ensuring the integrity, quality, and relevance of published content. Editors are committed to:

  • Editorial Decisions: Editors make publication decisions based on the manuscript’s scholarly merit, originality, clarity, and its relevance to the journal’s scope, without regard to the authors' race, gender, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

  • Fair Review Process: Editors ensure a double-blind peer review process, maintain reviewer anonymity, and guarantee that manuscripts are evaluated fairly and objectively.

  • Confidentiality: Editors and editorial staff will not disclose any information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, and the publisher.

  • Conflicts of Interest: Editors must not use unpublished information from submitted manuscripts for their own research purposes without the author's explicit written consent.

  • Handling Misconduct: Editors will take appropriate actions when ethical concerns are raised, including investigation, expression of concern, retraction, or correction.

2. Duties of Reviewers

Peer reviewers play a crucial role in ensuring the quality and integrity of academic publishing. Reviewers are expected to:

  • Contribution to Editorial Decisions: Provide constructive and objective assessments that assist editors in making decisions and help authors improve their manuscripts.

  • Timeliness: Reviewers should respond promptly and complete reviews within the agreed timeframe.

  • Confidentiality: All manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents and not shared with others.

  • Objectivity: Reviews must be conducted objectively, with no personal criticism of the author.

  • Acknowledgement of Sources: Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and alert the editor of any similarities with previously published work.

  • Disclosure and Conflict of Interest: Reviewers should not review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors or institutions.

3. Duties of Authors

Authors are expected to follow high ethical standards in the preparation and submission of their manuscripts. They are responsible for:

  • Originality and Plagiarism: Authors must ensure their manuscripts are original and free from plagiarism, duplication, or fraudulent data. All sources must be properly cited.

  • Authorship of the Paper: Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the research. All contributors should be appropriately credited.

  • Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publications: Authors should not submit the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently. Submitting the same work to multiple journals is unethical.

  • Data Access and Retention: Authors should provide access to raw data upon request and retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

  • Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest: All financial or other substantive conflicts of interest must be disclosed.

  • Ethical Clearance: For studies involving human participants, authors must have obtained informed consent and ethical approval from relevant institutional review boards or committees.

4. Duties of the Publisher

Ceudah Publisher, as the publisher of Desultanah: Journal of Education and Social Sciences, is committed to ensuring that the editorial process remains transparent, fair, and ethical. The publisher supports editors in managing ethical concerns and is responsible for:

  • Ensuring Academic Freedom: Supporting editorial independence and integrity of the peer review process.

  • Preventing Misconduct: Collaborating with editors to investigate and respond to allegations of research misconduct.

  • Archiving and Access: Guaranteeing the long-term preservation and open access of published content.

  • Intellectual Property and Licensing: All articles published in Desultanah are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License, which allows for non-commercial use, sharing, and adaptation with attribution.
